The art of asking questions is long last. The common form to ask a question is when you would like that question reversed on yourself. An example would be to ask a friend if they had plans for a trip or vacation when you are eager to share yours. This can go for positive qualities about ourselves, accolades, or even a painful past which we wish sympathy for. In essence, the goal in asking a question is to have that question posed to you. This line of thought can help you gain positive praise from the workplace to a new love interest.
Social media has made questions obsolete. Want to know where lil Suzy vacationed 3 summers ago – check out this 30 picture album. In sharing on the socials, often answers come without even thinking of a question. We are bombarded by the rosy-colored lives of people we would not venture to ask about their daily lives in the first place. Sure, this can be nice to staying up to date with family or seeing what others are ‘up to’, however all this information or truly disinformation bogs down our already preoccupied minds. I believe social media can lead to resentment not just because of envying where the grass is supposedly greener, but because you didn’t ask. No boundaries are honored. The art of conversation has vanished. Make yourself the best ad you can be to have the most followers. Ya happy yet?
I digress. The way to the true heart of asking questions, is to ask a question with pure, genuine interest. No alternative motive besides getting to know an individual, yearning to see the light behind their eyes. Often times if these questions were reversed on yourself, you would have no answer, had not considered one before or perhaps simply needed to think about. That is the crux of an absolute question, is simply you have no answer!
Granted, this approach is not best left for job interviews. Further, the best therapists do not give advice, they ask questions. This is because asking the same question over and over to ourselves, we are bound to run into the answer. The answers to it all lay within ourselves.
Let’s continue to ask all sorts of questions. Let’s not limit ourselves to questions we know the answer to. Let’s allow ourselves to keep guessing, keep learning, keep expanding.
Affirmations: I am wise because I ask questions. I honor all I do not know. I am a shining part of our magical universe.
