Privacy is an illusion, focus is the reality

The only reality in life is focus, privacy is an illusion. Everything is happening. Whether someone choose to share and even or not is irrelevant, it happened. If you chose to focus your efforts to uncovering details, the truth would be unearthed. From media distractions of governmental scandals to lil Susie gossiping behind your back down the street. One words are said, deeds committed. The action is complete. The moment is gone. The energy has shifted. Things are forever changed.

It is a noble goal to strive for privacy. We seek this solitude that leads us to believe if we are discrete, cautious in our private matters, we could have dignity. We could have peace. Yes, let’s boast accomplishments, however for our dignity – keep our naughty secrets shhh.

In fact everything we do is monitored. From the move you made when you were 6 to even my livejournal I published online in middle school – it’s all out there baby. Just got to do a little digging.

Don’t get me wrong, I value privacy. I applaud discretion. I used duckduckgo as a search engine for 6 years before they sold out. I’ve used privacy browsers, VPNS because even this illusion I have privacy that my searches are for my own; that I am unwatched in my deep dive, conversations, and talks, brings me serenity.

When the big man wants to do something not-so-shiny, the media will highlight something scandalous to get the people yabbing away. There is no hiding – the documents were released, laws were changed, the trial is on-going. However, it is almost as these actions do not exist because well focus is elsewhere.

This same attention and redirection can be mirrored in our lives. Life does not all of a sudden one day magically get better, it becomes a choice to focus on the positive. When life’s uglies pop up, you decide how much attention to give up. How much emotion will you fuel this fire?

The choice is always ours. The issue lies when our habits are simply….lazy. It becomes ‘easy’ to divulge in self-depreciating behavior, hesitant hygiene, and a lack of exercise because well you’re used to it. In fact, it is not easier. It takes a lot of work to not actively take care of our mind and body. You go against the laws of nature to nuture oneself. It is just simply easier than embracing the awareness that we are so much more than we give ourselves credit for. It is easier than taking on the responsibility to respect that every day on this planet is a gift. It becomes easier than accepting, even those days we claim we’ll never get out from under the covers again are meant for us.

Affirmations: I choose to focus on the positive in life. Life happens for me. I am thankful for the miracle that is my life <3
