I Choose Family

I choose family. I choose to connect with family. I choose to listen to family. I choose to learn from family. This does not mean I accept untolerable behavior. This does not mean I do not take space nor need time to decompress. This means I know my family is my greatest teacher of how I can heal myself to help the world.

We often seek ‘chosen family’. However, I believe this concept of seeking past our blood discredits the fact our blood family is our chosen family. Soul contracts state all interactions, from once in a lifetime passby’s to daily occurrences, have been our choice all along. Our choice we decided upon before reincarnating on this 3D plane. Do not dishonor your decisions, you chose your family for a reason.

In the past (and sometimes currently), I am guilty of the ‘why why why’s’. Why cannot I feel accepted in my family? Why am I here? Why is this so unfair!! Hushing the questions and sitting beside this uncomfortable emotions has been transformational. Before I would scream to the heavens, tell any half-attentive audience of my woes, do everything and all to convince everyone (and most of all myself) I was not accepted. And the truth, I chose isolation.

They say family ties are the strongest karma. Between a child and their parents. Boy, I sure know my parents try my patience (and I theirs) and I expect my future child to do the same. These challenges are opportunities to ask, “What inside me invites this behavior?” “Will my reaction encourage negative patterns, or perhaps just make myself appear poor?”

I truly believe all challenges are blessings in disguise. In the muck, we are not able to see this silver lining. It is a surprise God keeps hidden from us. How we handle our trials, not just our actions but our words and our thoughts, define the path we walk.

Two people can walk along the same path and their experiences be vastly different. It is a rainy day and one person can be irritated with cold and damp; the other person may embrace that the plants are getting the nourishment they need, they may look forward to the smell of wet soil after a storm or enjoy the soothing pitter-pattter sounds of the roof. Both experiences are valid. However, finding gratitude in challenging situations encourages welcoming outlooks. Like attracts like. When you enjoy life, life find more ways to enjoy with you.  Further, the best part of the rain can be appreciating the sun more deeply when it finally shines.

Affirmations: I am whole and complete. I love my family. I bring light to the world. I am healing ancestral karma. Ancestral curses stop with me. My family appreciates me. I handle conflict with grace and ease.
